Race in a Triathlon and Immerse Yourself in Guatapé
We’ll dive into the Colombian landscape, quite literally. Feeling the water against our skin, taking in the vistas on bike, and feeling the pavement and paths beneath our feet will allow us to truly connect to Guatape. You’ll have a choice of an Olympic or sprint distance race, or if triathlons aren’t your thing, you can cheer on the group as a spectator. The gorgeous course will offer sweeping views of La Piedra and the countryside’s endless rolling green hills. After the race, we’ll celebrate Colombian-style, savoring local specialties such as bandeja paisa and aguardiente (“firewater”).
We’ll home-base in a tranquil hacienda on the shore of the beautiful Peñol-Guatapé Reservoir in this picturesque adventure town. We’ll explore Guatapé and discover why many consider it to be the most colorful town in Colombia. We’ll climb to the top of La Piedra to take in the panoramic views and then, after a hearty lunch, you’ll have the option of zip-lining, taking a leisurely boat ride, enjoying other water sports, or simply strolling the quirky vibrant streets.
Experience Medellin’s Vast Social Transformation, Rich Culture, and Electric Nightlife
Once known primarily as the birthplace of infamous Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, Medellin now tops lists of urban innovation and has become a favorite destination of savvy travelers. Medellin’s vast public transportation system, including a cable car traversing the city’s steepest hills, links once-isolated barrios to greater resources, creating a literal and metaphorical bridge between once-disparate communities. You’ll witness the impressive and positive social transformation taking place, including at the notorious Comuna 13.
After the day’s adventures, we’ll take the evening to visit Medellin’s hidden spots, where you’ll learn to salsa like a local.
Hike, Bike, and Horseback-Ride through the Andes and Rural Antioquia
Our boutique hotel in Medellin will be our base camp for daily adventures to the lush Andes mountains and picturesque towns including Santa Fe de Antioquia. We’ll hike and mountain bike through rural Colombia, learn Colombian-style horseback riding (cabalgata), tour a local organic coffee farm, and hear more about the difficult past by listening to the stories of impacted locals. We’ll give back to the community through an environmentally focused service project that will leave a lasting impact both on you and on the beautiful country we’ll visit.
